Extraditions and requisitions file, 1831.

The Governor of Ala. may extradite criminals from other states or may be asked to return criminals found in Ala. to other states. This process may also be referred to as requisition. This series consists of two items relating to the extradition of Littleton Prince, who was arrested in Savannah, Ga. for "negro stealing" in Pike Co., Ala. Included is a letter from the Savannah Justice of the Peace informing Moore of Prince's arrest and a petition from the citizens of Louisville, Pike Co. asking that Prince be returned to Ala. They also request that the Governor provide them with money from the contingent fund to defray expenses for arresting Prince in Savannah.
